Recently, an upcoming model I follow on Instagram posted a video on her page calling the help of all her fans. She had recently done a photo shoot with a certain brand and the photo shoot did not go well at all. Her post was a video informing the public that the brand she worked with was completely unprofessional and kept criticizing her. However, despite the photo shoot going completely wrong, the brand still posted her picture on their Instagram page. In her video, the model said she was treated unfairly and was not paid. She recently messaged the brand asking them to take down her photo and the brand responded by blocking her. So, she decided to ask all of friends to go report the photo on Instagram and comment “delete this, I do not want my face associated with your brand”. She has been battling this brand for the past couple of days, and the brand has still not taken the photo down.
My question: should application like Instagram intervene in these kind of situations. Should someone else be able to post your picture without your consent? Are they infringing on this model’s privacy?
